4月1日卑詩新冠增53例1亡 B.C. records 53 new cases of COVID-19 and 1 death
Chief provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and health minister Adrian Dix provided an update Wednesday on the province’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Henry said there were 53 new cases of COVID-19 in the province and one new confirmed death. She also said there were now 606 people who had recovered from the novel coronavirus.
Asked about reports the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention was looking into re-examining guidelines for mask use by the general public, medical masks are still “paramount” to frontline workers’ safety. She said if people want to use homemade masks, they may be able to prevent the spread of their own droplets, but advised staying at home and proper social distancing does work and should be followed.
Henry also said that at this time there are no at-home testing kits available that she is aware of that can be deemed reliable yet. She said this is because the tests may show false-positive or false-negative results, but they are looking into other options that could come in the future including tests that can tell people if they had the virus already.
